Community got involved, the intervention received amazing support from the speakers and current graduate students that supported the workshops.

The Rising Doctoral Institute held at the University of California Irvine (UCI) during the Fall 2023 period was a four-day workshop series combined with an interactive lunch Q&A during the last day. The workshops were composed of open sessions with faculty and administrative staff from the University, and presentations and success groups with current graduate students from the institution.

Insights
- Switch locations twice for students to see different spaces on campus and get to know it.
- Held when students had been on campus for at least 2 weeks, right before classes. This helps to avoid students not being able to come or getting to spend additional funds to come in.
Recommendations
- Reduce the number of days from four to three.
- Give the students a stipend for attending, not at the beginning as motivation to attend, but at the and as a reward.
